Serving in Japan…

I had the opportunity to spend some time with Andy and Lorna Gilbert who are two of our supported missionaries serving in Japan.

One year ago, after the terrible tsunami struck Japan, they moved from where they had been serving in the south of the country to the north where the tsunami did the greatest damage.

For the last twelve months, they have been living in the city of Ishinomaki, where 3000 people were killed by the tsunami.  The entire area was devastated, but there is good news.  Andy and Lorna said they have seen God do more in the last year of being in the north than in the twelve previous years of ministry in Japan.  Why?  The disaster has caused the local people to accept outside help and Christians, like the Gilberts, have earned the trust of the Japanese people quickly!  As a result of believers coming from all over Asia and North America to lend assistance, the people are very open to receiving the gospel.
